1968 The beginning of Leveringhaus GmbH & Co. KG

The conquest of the moon begins with Apollo VII, at the Olympics in Mexico City Bob Beamon makes a legendary world-record jump of 8.90 m, both Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy are assassinated, Soviet troops occupy Prague.

Despite all the political turbulence in the world, Reinhard Leveringhaus founds the Kahmann KG Siebdruckei (a screen-printing works) in Gevelsberg, North-Rhine-Westphalia, together with his father-in-law.

1973 Extension and expansion

A truce is declared in Vietnam, the Watergate affair starts to take off, and under Federal Chancellor Brandt, the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany start to move closer together, and agree a joint basis; the Federal Republic is admitted to UNO; the first car-free Sunday is declared.

Success proves the company right. Growth is the logical consequence. Kahmann KG Siebdruckerei relocates to new premises and changes its name to Plastic Print GmbH. To round off its range of products, the company acquires Erbig KG Oberflächenveredelung (a surface refinement works) in Obergünzburg, Bavaria, adding a second product range.

1978 Erbig KG becomes Leveringhaus Oberflächenveredelung

Messner is the first person to conquer Mount Everest without oxygen, the first test-tube baby is born, the last VW beetle leaves the production line, and at a summit meeting in Camp David, peace is brought to the Middle East.

The future parent company is given its name. Even in those early days, the company\'s strengths were clearly evident, and they continue on today: adaptation to customers\' needs coupled with high quality standards and flexible product design.

1983 United strength

Kohl becomes Chancellor of West Germany, the Green Party gains seats in the Bundestag, the war between Iran and Iraq is in full swing, catalytic converters are made compulsory in motor vehicles, and East Germany is given a billion-dollar loan.

Leveringhaus gathers its strength and brings both companies together under one roof. This concentration of shared know-how and of all resources makes for an enhanced market position.

1988 A new building for rising sales

The first genetically engineered mouse is patented, the German Post Office loses its monopoly on delivering letters and parcels, the Social Democrats embrace affirmative action for women within their party, Steffi Graf wins the Golden Slam with her victory at the Olympic Games in Seoul.

New production facilities bring new possibilities: In Obergünzburg, a constantly growing order-book has made the premises too small. A new building more than 1000 m² in area provides enough space for state-of-the-art production processes.

1991 Lean management, relocation to Obergünzburg

The world watches as the Gulf War unfolds, in Germany Carnival processions are cancelled because of it, the treaty agreeing the withdrawal of 380,000 Soviet soldiers from the new (Eastern) federal states of Germany is ratified, the Inter-City Express, a high-speed train, goes into operation.

The branch in Gevelsberg moves to the main facilities in Obergünzburg. This is the age of lean management, and two management levels are no longer appropriate. Merging all production processes makes for even faster and more precise production schedules. If you want unlimited success, you have to build the foundations for it. Those foundations are in place at Obergünzburg.
